Heidi J. Szuminsky is currently the Assistant Director of College Relations at Waynesburg College. Her responsibilities include media relations and managing the news bureau. She also is responsible for assisting with the writing and editing of The Lamp alumni magazine, internal communications and marketing. Szuminsky designs a number of print advertisements, brochures, postcards and materials while managing a full staff of student workers in the office.
In addition, Szuminsky is the advisor to Waynesburg Colleges Acting on AIDS chapter and has been a trip leader for short term mission expeditions to Guatemala.
Prior to employment at Waynesburg College, Szuminsky served as the volunteer coordinator of public relations for CBM Ministries of Southwestern Pennsylvania, where she coordinated special events, solicited volunteers and wrote for, designed and edited the quarterly newsletter. She also served as the public relations intern for Seneca Valley School District in 2004, where she assisted with special events planning and the layout of the summer all-district newsletter.
Szuminsky also served as the director of Youth at the First United Methodist Church in Waynesburg, Pa., from 2003-2005. As its director, she coordinated all youth activities, developed and executed all fundraising activities as well as led weekly youth meetings.
Currently, Szuminsky is pursuing her masters degree in business administration from Waynesburg College. She graduated from Waynesburg College in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication with an emphasis in public relations. As an undergraduate student she served a two-year term as the president of student senate, was a member of the Leadership Scholars, was the student director of special events planning for the Department of Communication and a member of the Campus Ministries Coordinating Team. Originally from Harmony, Pa., Szuminsky graduated from Seneca Valley High School in 2001.
Heidi's nutritional center and plans to continue leading service trips while she works for Waynesburg College. She and her husband, Brandon (also a Waynesburg grad), live in Waynesburg with their puppy, Charlie.
